Posadas de San Miguel

Our quiet and intimate location is just outside of San Jose in the heart of the Escazu metropolitan area.  This private setting is both rich in amenities and experience, offering sounds and visions of the greater Costa Rican environment that surrounds it.  The words ‘Pura Vida’ or Pure Life has captured the attention of travelers from all over the world, bringing them to experience the vast wealth of nature and beauty in Costa Rica.

Beautifully hand-crafted furnishings are tied together through art decorum and architecture exemplary of traditional Costa Rican heritage.  There are as many communal areas spread out over the Posadas as there are rooms for vacationers to stay in.  Each one of our four private rooms have their own unique charm and are equipped with king/queen sized beds, air conditioning, Wi-fi Internet, television, climate-purification units, full bathrooms and storage.  We offer full breakfast meals prepared by our hostess who arrives early each day. Guests can request meals to be prepared by supplying food, otherwise have complete access to all kitchen appliances and cookery.  Vacationers return to the Posadas de San Miguel for its stylish affordable exclusivity, and for the peaceful sounds and sights that embody the ‘tranquillo’ concept of a true vacation in Costa Rica.

The Cenezaro

The Caoba

The Cenezaro is one of the biggest trees in the Guanacaste rainforest of Costa Rica.  Our Cenezaro is named accordingly.  This largest accommodation at the Posadas holds similar amenities as our other units, but with an enormous private outdoor patio adjacent to the large one bedroom.  The Cenezaro is equipped with a full bathroom and private communal room.  A unique hallway between the living room and bedroom allows enough space to provide a couch and flat screen TV.  A second flat screen is found mounted above a king-sized, four-post bed of the bedroom.  There is a standing closet, two ottomans and loveseat in the spacious bedroom, and the outdoor patio has a comfortable private dining table for four and wooden chess game table.

All varieties of wood have their own unique qualities and Caoba is no different.  Also known as Mahogany, Caoba has been used in products ranging from cabinetry to musical instruments due to its light and easy-to-work-with characteristics.  The deep, warm tones of Caoba are similarly attributed to our unit.  The large patio outside the entrance has two rocking chairs with a table and bench where guests can hear gurgles from the stream that lines one side of the Posada.  There is also a small water fountain that sits just beyond the patio in a volcanic rock garden with cactus and other natural flora.  The traditional outdoor tile floor continues on inside the unit where our guests find a bamboo-thatched ceiling similar to traditional cabanas of Costa Rica.  On one side of the unit a wall and two doors divide the bathroom.  One door opens to a unique walk in shower, and the other a full bathroom.  In the middle of the room and at the foot of a queen size bed is a small glass desktop/table built into the wall.  A large television is mounted above the bed and there is a large standing closet for storage.

The Cedro

The Cedro holds a faint fragrance recognizable to what is commonly known (in English) as Cedar.  Cedro is an appealing unit with a bathroom almost spacious as the living space, bedroom separated by saloon style wooden doors.  The bathroom is similar to the unit of Caoba, in that guests will find privacy between two doors, one to the toilet and one to a step in/down shower.  It is also different than the Caoba as the sink and vanity mirror are separate and on a different wall of the bathroom.  There is a large open storage/closet space with bifold doors that separates the bathroom from the bedding area.  At the foot of the queen bed is an elegant roll top desk and above it, a wall-mounted television.  The unit has a medium sized patio affront the entrance complete with chairs, and also accesses a metal spiraling staircase leading up to the ‘Rancho’ communal patio.

The Roble

Found in the natural rainforests of Costa Rica, the Roble is becoming increasingly rare outside of parks and reserves due to its stunning look.  We have devoted the same name to our most charming unit at the Posada de San Miguel.  The Roble has all the amenities of the other rooms at Posadas.  A large bathroom equipped with ample lighting has a walk in shower containing a built-in tiled seating area.  As with all units at the Posada, the Roble has unique characteristics that separate it from the others.  Traditionally inlayed wooden window shutters surround the queen size bed that has nightstands on either side.  The Roble also has a mid-sized bench patio just outside its entrance where guests can comfortably relax and hear sounds from the nearby brook.
